"Disaster! Blaster!" And I'm sure he rhymes it with "faster" and probably "master," and I'm willing to bet Rob Zombie says "yeeeeeaaaah!" at least once or twice in this song. Can't for the life of me remember which White Zombie album it is, I think La Sexorcisto: Devil Music Vol. I, from I believe 1992, but although it's a lyric on that album I think it's a song title on Make Them Die Slowly? Or is it called Let Them Die Slowly? There was a mass misprint and I had an LP with one name and a CD with the other and I could never remember which was which. 1990? They did that sort of thing before, "Soul-Crusher" is a song on La Sexorcisto but it's a whole album from years earlier, 1988? I can't remember the year but there's no song "Soul-Crusher" on the album Soul Crusher. I love this sort of poetic resonance, and actually drew inspiration from these records in my own book chapter titles.
[P.S. "Disaster! Blaster!" is the chorus of the song "Disaster Blaster," from Make Them Die Slowly (1989). The first two lines of the song end with the words "master" and "faster," respectively. There's not a single "yeah" in the song, though there are numerous extended notes that are quite "yeeeeeaaaah"-like.]
Yeeeeeeaaaahhhhh! I mean of course I did a little backflip when I saw you'd written something here, and then I saw the thing you'd written and it was like I was on a trampoline doing flip after flip. I love your brain and your heart and how you see the world and how you express it. And I love this as a demonstration of, like, catching a wave of what's moving through you, standing up on the surfboard and riding it for 8 minutes. How we just need to do that once and we have a piece of art like this to enjoy forever. I also love love love how this most exquisitely resonant piece of poetry features phrases like devil music and make them die slowly and let them die slowly and misprint and soul crusher and ... yeah. Yeeeeeeaaahhhh! Thank you Andy for being someone who has added this dimension to my life, making me see how static and beige and limited the world is without it. <3
Well, "disaster" took me to "blaster," and the rest just followed in sequence -- thanks for the spark & thanks for appreciating it, it's fun to display those weird workings like this!
Eeek! I just had a little yeeeeep of joy seeing your name and essence here Sarah. Even if you sometimes forget it (who doesn't?), the joy-of-aliveness radiates off you no matter where you go. Thank you for alighting here this morning. Love to you.
Always be Scott Darlington-ing! What a miracle dood he is - I loved this essay! I'll have to play with the prompt later - it's a good one. Thank you for bringing us amazing ScottyD!
